On the morning of 19 April 2023, British designer Professor Phil Cleaver delivered a lecture in Academic Lecture Hall No. 1 of Dezheng Building at ZCFE. Organised by the School of Art and Design, the event brought together nearly 200 faculty members and students. Ma Shaofei chaired the lecture, with Liu Cunfang providing interpretation.

Design Practice and Professional Development

Drawing on examples from branding and publishing design, Professor Cleaver shared insights from his international teaching and professional practice. He offered practical advice to aspiring designers on navigating professional life and developing their design skills.

During the question-and-answer session, he responded to students’ questions and offered guidance on their studies.

Connecting International Perspectives with Local Culture

Zhang Yong of the School of Art and Design welcomed Professor Cleaver and encouraged faculty members to incorporate international design trends into their teaching while drawing on local cultural traditions.

The lecture provided an opportunity for faculty members and students to engage with an international design practitioner and explore cross-cultural perspectives on design and education.
