On the afternoon of 27 June 2018, Zhengzhou College of Finance and Economics and Swansea University, UK, signed a framework agreement on cooperation at a ceremony held in Meeting Room 2 of Administration Building A. The agreement established a formal partnership between the two institutions and laid the foundation for future academic collaboration.  

Guests included Mr Diao Yuhua, Deputy Director-General of the Henan Provincial Department of Education; Professor Marc Clement of Swansea University; Professor Nigel O’Leary, Head of Swansea’s Department of Economics; and other representatives from Swansea. Representing Zhengzhou College of Finance and Economics were Chairman Niu Qinmin, President Li Hongchang and Executive Vice-President Li Qingyang, who chaired the ceremony. 

In his opening remarks, Chairman Niu Qinmin introduced the college’s academic strengths and recent achievements. He expressed his hopes that the partnership would foster collaborative innovation and support the development of both institutions.

Professor Marc Clement highlighted Swansea University’s approaching centenary in 2020 and outlined its research priorities. Professor Nigel O’Leary welcomed the partnership and expressed support for exchanges involving faculty and students from Zhengzhou College of Finance and Economics. 

President Li Hongchang and Professor Marc Clement signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. The agreement provides a framework for visits by senior university leaders, faculty development, student exchanges and research collaboration. Representatives then exchanged gifts and posed for group photographs. 

Founded in 1920, Swansea University is a public research university in the United Kingdom with international links across academia and industry. 

The agreement represents a further step in the college’s international engagement. It is intended to broaden educational and research opportunities for faculty and students, strengthen faculty development, and support the college’s ambition to become a high-quality, application-oriented undergraduate institution with a distinctive educational profile.
